AND SO IT BEGINS! Here is the first fic! Drink it in, people. (EXCLAIMER: I DO NOT CONDONE THE ACTIVITIES OF OVER-DRINKING FANFICS NOR UNDERAGE FANFIC-DRINKING.)
I find it hard to just sit here and wait. No friendship. No pleasure. Just orders and obedience. It’s unnerving. It’s disgusting.
But it’s my duty to serve Sigma and his uprising. My new programming demands it. I know you’re coming, X, and I know it wasn’t long ago we fought on the same side. But no, things have changed. I wish I could fix that, but what’s done is done. I have to destroy you. It must…
“Attention Mavericks. A lone Hunter has been spotted in the area identified as Mega Man X. All personnel on highest alert!”
Dammit. He’s coming. Knowing him, it won’t be long before he arrives.
………
“Attention Mavericks. Mega Man X spotted nearing Base HQ. Squad leader Storm Eagle stay on alert.”
Alright, fine. He’s here. I can’t fight what I am now. I have to destroy you, X. It’s going to happen. It has to happen. It has to…
“*gasp* Storm! You’re a Maverick!”
“Indeed I am, X. Sigma’s virus coarses through my circuits, telling me only one thing: your destruction.”
It almost looked like he was fighting back the tears. His teeth were clenched so tight I could see him grinding them down in frustration and fury. This was how I liked him best anyway. When all options but fighting are exhausted, X performs in only the best way he can.
“It ends, X. I’m sorry but from here on out, YOU’RE MINE!”
I flew to the skies and let a Storm Tornado engulf his feeble Buster shots. He managed to dash underneath, but I caught him! With a look of horror on his face, he winced as I smiled and slammed him to the ground with one mighty pound. Coughing up dust and dirt, he turned and fired a deceptively charged shot, to which I gracefully dodged. He was going to die, and I could feel it.
Wasting no time, I dispatched my underlings and rose to enjoy the chaos from above. Noticing X was handling them better than I’d hoped, I quickly dashed in to take out the blue bomber, and wham! I caught him from his backside, spinning him into a pirouette of pain and short circuits!
“I’ve had enough, Storm! There is no longer any option!”
In a flash of strategy, he’d changed his form to that of a greenish hue, reminiscent of my fellow brother Sting Chameleon.
“A change of outfit won’t stop your demise, X! No matter how you appear, you’re still nothing but a Reploid!”
I forced my way into his view and prepared another Storm Tornado, but before I could score another blow a bolt of green light emitted from his Buster, encompassing me in shock and malfunction.
“X, what have you done? I…I…”
I couldn’t fly! I could barely move! Just then, another smattering of green energy spewed from his Buster, toppling my power gauge nearly a third of the way! Could he really defeat me? After all our training and strategizing together?
“Aghhh, no! I can’t! Sigma! The cause!”
“Sigma is using you for his own evil devices! That Sigma virus is corrupting you! Storm, I don’t want to have to eliminate you!”
I threw my hands up in anger. I wasn’t going to let this B-Class Hunter take me out!
“Corrupt or not, one of us is leaving here alive, and I plan on having that be me!!!”
I buzzed around X, flying up beyond his reach and once again diving into his legs, nearly crippling him. Another dispatch of my underlings kept him busy long enough for me to power up my extensive wings.
“I’m afraid you have to leave now, X. It’s a long way down off this platform, and I don’t see any flight devices protruding from you! Fare well!”
I fluttered and flapped as hard as my neural nets would allow me, and I watched in amazement as he drew closer and closer to the edge. But those damn dash shoes! I’d forgotten in my momentary lapse of enjoyment! I just stared on as he fought his way back and shot yet another green blast of death towards my body. In a way, I almost let it hit me.
“Unghhh…”
“Storm! Are you okay?”
My chest was on fire, I couldn’t feel my legs, and my wings were stripped down to their wireframes. That last hit was the final one. I knew it.
“X…you bested me.”
“Come on, Storm, we gotta get you back to Hunter Base!”
“No, X. It’s too late. The virus is embedded too far into into my internal synapses. I’m sorry for what I have done. I had to do it. Against everything I value and treasure in life, but I had to do it.”
“I know, Storm. I know.”
“Please…tell everyone back there that I still respect them and what they are doing. I now know how hard it is…”
The fire inside me grew more and more intense, and the last thing I saw was X turning his back and walking slowly away.
I…couldn’t…think of what…couldn’t think…overheating…respect…malfunction…ma

THE END!
